Lam Sai-hung starts Singapore trip

Secretary for Transport & Logistics Lam Sai-hung today began his visit to Singapore.

In the morning, Mr Lam visited a port where he had a bird’s eye view of the Pasir Panjang Terminals. He also toured an exhibition on the Tuas Port and was briefed by representatives of PSA International on the latest developments of automated port operations, energy conservation and emission reductions.

During a luncheon, Mr Lam shared with trade representatives his views on the developments in transport and logistics, and took the opportunity to promote Hong Kong’s strengths and business opportunities.

Pointing out that the COVID-19 pandemic and international landscape had made significant changes to global aviation, maritime and logistics and led to the emergence of new supply chains, he said the Transport & Logistics Bureau promulgated in late 2023 two major action plans.

The action plans - one on the development strategy of modern logistics and the other on maritime and ports - outlined measures based on the latest situation, with a view to supporting the sustainable development needs of Hong Kong and enhancing the long-term competitiveness of its trades.

Today’s itinerary also included meetings with officials from Singapore’s Maritime & Port Authority and Land Transport Authority, during which Mr Lam and the officials discussed issues of mutual concern.

He also interacted with local trade representatives to learn about Singapore's business environment, in addition to shedding light on Hong Kong’s recent transport and logistics developments.
