2 isolation facilities repurposed

The Government today announced that the existing community isolation facilities (CIFs) in Tsing Yi and San Tin will be partially modified for short-term use. The arrangements will last for about one year.   The works will begin progressively within this month.   After necessary modifications, the Tsing Yi CIF will provide a venue and ancillary facilities to youth uniformed groups for holding training on flag raising, foot drill and other youth development-related activities.   The Home & Youth Affairs Bureau is liaising with relevant groups on the necessary modifications, the arrangements for using the venue and the facilities. The bureau will monitor the usage situation.   As for the San Tin CIF, upon completion of the necessary modifications, the Development Bureau will arrange for the Construction Industry Council to hold training courses and trade tests, including on-site training on the Modular Integrated Construction method regarding safety legislation, lifting and assembly to support a wider adoption of the method.   The owners of the San Tin CIF's private lots have agreed to continue lending the land for such purposes.   The Government said the proposed uses are beneficial to society, the economy and people's livelihood.   It will continue to review subsequent arrangements for other community isolation and treatment facilities with a view to maintaining its capacity to respond to changes in the epidemic situation while taking into account Hong Kong's economic, livelihood and social needs.

Come2hk Scheme to open

The quotas under the Come2hk travel scheme will open for application tomorrow.   Under the scheme, non-Hong Kong residents who fulfil specified conditions will be exempted from compulsory quarantine when they come to Hong Kong from Guangdong and Macau.   They can apply for the quota through the online booking system from tomorrow at midnight.   A daily quota of 1,000 each has been set for the Shenzhen Bay Port and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port.   Quotas will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. HK fencers score medals

Hong Kong fencers Vivian Kong and Low Ho-tin each won a medal at the 2023 Asian Fencing Championships.   While Kong won a gold medal in the Women's Épée Individual event, Low bagged a bronze one in the Men's Sabre Individual event.   Congratulating the athletes today, Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung said: “It is the third time Vivian Kong won gold at the Asian Fencing Championships, while Low Ho-tin’s triumph makes it the second time for the Hong Kong team to reap a medal in the event since 2014.   “We are very encouraged by their performances and proud of Hong Kong fencers for their repeated success at international competitions." http://dlvr.it/SqrWTd
