Housing Dept reports COVID-19 case

The Housing Department today said a security guard employed by its contractor has tested positive for COVID-19.       The security guard, who last worked on January 20, is responsible for patrolling Lai On Estate.   She was notified by the Centre for Health Protection on January 21 that she had tested positive for the virus.       The security guard has no recent travel history. She wore a face mask and her body temperature was normal during work.       The common areas, security control room and estate management office of Lai On Estate have been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected in accordance with the centre’s guidelines.

Come2hk Scheme to open

The quotas under the Come2hk travel scheme will open for application tomorrow.   Under the scheme, non-Hong Kong residents who fulfil specified conditions will be exempted from compulsory quarantine when they come to Hong Kong from Guangdong and Macau.   They can apply for the quota through the online booking system from tomorrow at midnight.   A daily quota of 1,000 each has been set for the Shenzhen Bay Port and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port.   Quotas will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. The next cycle for quota booking will be open every Wednesday.   Each applicant can apply for the quota with a maximum of three accompanying non-Hong Kong residents.   Applicants must provide their name, gender, date of birth, valid travel document number for entry into Hong Kong, a mobile phone number which can receive SMS on the Mainland or in Macau and a specified entry date and boundary control point.   They must also present valid proof of a neg

HK fencers score medals

Hong Kong fencers Vivian Kong and Low Ho-tin each won a medal at the 2023 Asian Fencing Championships.   While Kong won a gold medal in the Women's Épée Individual event, Low bagged a bronze one in the Men's Sabre Individual event.   Congratulating the athletes today, Secretary for Culture, Sports & Tourism Kevin Yeung said: “It is the third time Vivian Kong won gold at the Asian Fencing Championships, while Low Ho-tin’s triumph makes it the second time for the Hong Kong team to reap a medal in the event since 2014.   “We are very encouraged by their performances and proud of Hong Kong fencers for their repeated success at international competitions." http://dlvr.it/SqrWTd
